Lead SQL Data Analyst (P&C Insurance)

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on, high-ownership lead role implementing a brand-new P&C insurance policy administration system in Woodbridge, NJ. You will be knee-deep in data migration, defect tracking, and data cleanup while guiding stakeholders and users through complex SQL queries.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around untangling messy incoming data and getting a new policy administration platform across the finish line. You'll figure out what came in, audit the balance, track down defects in tracking tools, and drive those issues to completion. Expect to spend a lot of time doing hands-on data mapping, writing complex SQL for analysis and testing, and assisting both developers and end-users with query creation. You are also expected to be on-site 4 days a week, acting as the energetic anchor for the team.

The Core Tech Stack

You need absolute mastery over relational databases and advanced SQL, as writing queries for validation, data mapping, and testing is your bread and butter here. Prior, deep-seated experience in the Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance domain—specifically with policy administration systems, statutory reporting, and compliance—is non-negotiable. If you have exposure to Snowflake, DB2, SQL Server, and cloud data tech, you'll immediately stand out and hit the ground running.

Interview Expectations

The hiring manager is heavily focused on personality, leadership, and ownership, so expect behavioral questions testing how you handle chaotic data migrations and push back on bad requirements. They will likely ask you to walk through a time you identified a critical flaw in legacy data and how you tracked it through the SDLC to resolution. Be prepared for technical SQL scenarios where you have to join disparate tables to reconcile imbalances on the fly, and show them you aren't afraid to take charge.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream P&C insurance and heavy SQL execution right at the top. Make sure to weave in exact keywords like 'Policy Administration', 'Data Mapping and Transformation', 'Defect Tracking', and 'Statutory Reporting' so you clear the ATS easily. Don't just list technical skills; use your experience bullet points to highlight your leadership capabilities, supervisory background, and how you successfully guided teams through complex SDLC software implementations.
