Job Description & Details
This is a solid, hands-on automation gig requiring you to be onsite in Vienna, VA, so local candidates only. You'll be stepping in to build out and maintain test suites using modern tooling, with a heavy emphasis on Playwright and keeping pace with AI-driven testing workflows.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days writing, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts for functional, regression, and smoke testing. Rather than just clicking buttons, you'll be actively collaborating with developers and QA peers to hunt down tricky defects, push for better test coverage, and optimize how quickly your test suites run against fast-moving codebases.
The Core Tech Stack
You need strong hands-on experience with Playwright, though a solid Selenium background with a willingness to pivot immediately will also work. Your programming foundation needs to be sharp in either Java, .NET, or Python. On top of that, the team expects working knowledge of API testing, Git for version control, and actual familiarity with AI assistant tools to speed up your daily scripting tasks.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to test your core coding chops live by asking you to write a quick automation snippet in your language of choice, likely debugging a flaky Playwright or Selenium test on the spot. They want to see how you structure your page object models and handle asynchronous waits. They are secretly looking for problem-solvers who don't just write scripts, but understand how automated testing integrates cleanly into a broader release pipeline without becoming a maintenance nightmare.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS and land that in-person interview, make sure your resume explicitly highlights Playwright alongside your primary languageāJava, .NET, or Python. Don't just list tools; briefly mention how you've used AI assistant tools to optimize your workflow or speed up test creation. Tie in your experience with API testing, Git, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins or Azure DevOps right near the top so the recruiter instantly sees you check every technical box.
