Job Description & Details
This 9-month W2 contract role focuses heavily on robust test automation and quality assurance for the EcoStruxure platform at a leading energy company. Despite the title mentioning financial data, the actual requirements demand a heavy-hitting automation engineer who can build resilient testing pipelines using Python and Pytest.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days developing, executing, and maintaining automated test scripts to guarantee the reliability of complex software platforms. Your routine will involve full stack integration testing, alongside pushing the system to its limits with performance, stress, and scalability tests. You'll be embedded right alongside the core development team, hunting down elusive defects and integrating your testing frameworks seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines.
The Core Tech Stack
To survive here, you need absolute fluency in Python and Pytest, backed by at least six years of hands-on experience writing clean, scalable test automation code. Experience with REST API testing is non-negotiable since you'll be validating various service endpoints, and you must feel comfortable navigating cloud environments like AWS or Azure. Familiarity with Linux and Windows systems, paired with a solid grasp of Agile workflows and CI/CD tools, will tie your daily deliverables together.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on your approach to designing test automation frameworks from scratch, likely asking you how you handle flaky tests in large CI/CD pipelines. They are secretly testing your architectural mindset, looking to see if you understand how to isolate failures efficiently rather than just brute-forcing test execution. You should also be ready to whiteboard a strategy for load testing a distributed REST API under heavy traffic.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to heavily spotlight your Python and Pytest chops right at the top, making sure exact phrasing from the JD like 'automation frameworks', 'CI/CD pipelines', and 'integration, performance, and scalability testing' appear cleanly for the ATS. Since this is an 8+ years seniority role, highlight projects where you architected automated testing suites independently and drove defect resolution across cross-functional Agile teams.
