Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty Vendor Management Office (VMO) analytics gig where you'll be wrangling messy procurement data, migrating spreadsheets into structured applications, and building automated workflows. If you love digging through disparate systems to find financial discrepancies and aren't afraid to take ownership of end-to-end reporting, this is a solid role that actually lets you build real solutions instead of just pushing paper.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in spend data, building forecasting dashboards, and hunting down anomalies that could signal compliance risks or supplier fraud. You'll be the right-hand resource to the VMO team, meaning you'll handle everything from tracking contractor headcount and resource utilization to meeting directly with suppliers. A big part of your routine will also involve mentoring a couple of junior apprentices—one data analyst and one automation specialist—so you'll need to guide their work while streamlining manual processes across departments.
The Core Tech Stack
Your bread and butter here will be Advanced Excel, Power BI, and SAP Ariba, so you need to be comfortable pulling messy data via DBeaver and turning it into clean, executive-ready dashboards. On top of the analytics stack, heavy Microsoft Power Automate experience is non-negotiable because the team is actively looking for someone to look at manual bottlenecks and build workflows that eliminate them entirely. Experience migrating spreadsheet-based data into formal applications will make or break your ability to ramp up quickly here.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a messy data reconciliation scenario at you, asking how you would handle comparing spend figures pulled from SAP against disparate external spreadsheets to catch variances. They aren't just testing your Excel formulas; they want to hear how you investigate anomalies and communicate those findings proactively across cross-functional teams. You'll also likely be grilled on a time you designed a Power Automate workflow from scratch, with the interviewer secretly listening for your ability to self-start and take a manual business process and run with it without hand-holding.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams 'VMO analyst' by front-loading your experience with SAP Ariba, Power BI, and data reconciliation projects rather than just listing general administrative duties. Explicitly drop keywords like spend analysis, vendor management, workflow automation, and data migration, and frame your past achievements around how you saved time or caught discrepancies that others missed to prove you have that required attention to detail.
