Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on Vendor Management Analyst role focused heavily on data reconciliation, reporting, and process automation within a large enterprise setting. You'll act as the operational right-hand for the VMO team, meaning you won't just pull numbers—you'll own the data integrity and actively hunt down discrepancies across systems like SAP and Ariba.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around wrestling with messy procurement data, building forecasting and savings dashboards in Power BI and Excel, and figuring out how to eliminate manual busywork using Power Automate. You will spend a good chunk of your time comparing financial records across multiple systems to spot anomalies, investigating supplier data for potential fraud, and tracking key metrics like contractor headcount and overall resource utilization. Plus, you will be collaborating directly with two junior apprentices on the team, helping guide their technical execution while you drive efficiency initiatives.
The Core Tech Stack
You need to be completely fluent in advanced Excel and Power BI because leadership is going to rely heavily on your spend and savings dashboards. Beyond visualization, absolute mastery of DBeaver for data extraction and a solid working knowledge of SAP or SAP Ariba are non-negotiable since that is where all the raw procurement data lives. Finally, you must know your way around Microsoft Power Automate to build workflows that save the team from tedious, repetitive manual tasks.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to test your ability to handle data discrepancies by asking how you would track down a massive variance between two different financial systems with conflicting records. They are looking for methodical investigative skills, attention to detail, and a structured approach to data reconciliation. You will also likely be grilled on how you prioritize automation projects when everything feels urgent, so be ready to share a specific example of how you took a manual spreadsheet process and completely automated it from scratch.
Application Advice
When updating your resume, make sure your experience with large-scale data migration, vendor management systems, and cross-system reconciliation is front and center. Explicitly drop keywords like 'SAP Ariba', 'Power BI', 'DBeaver', and 'Power Automate' into your bullet points because the ATS will scan for them immediately. Highlight instances where you acted as a self-starter who took initiative on process improvements rather than just waiting for instructions.
