Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty healthcare systems role where you will be leading automation testing efforts for a critical in-house platform powering the Managed Care Transition Project. If you know your way around complex EDI transactions and healthcare claims processing, this gig offers a chance to make a real impact on state-level public health infrastructure.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around reviewing business requirements, translating them into robust test cases, and architecting automated test suites from scratch. You'll spend a good amount of time validating HIPAA X12 EDI transactions like 837I, 837P, and NCPDP D.0, writing complex SQL queries to verify backend data, and running integration and regression cycles. Expect to coordinate closely with end users during UAT while keeping defects meticulously tracked in tools like JIRA or HP ALM.
The Core Tech Stack
You need deep hands-on expertise in automated testing frameworks paired with strong SQL capabilities. Familiarity with HP ALM and JIRA is non-negotiable for defect tracking, but the real secret sauce here is your domain knowledge in Healthcare Claims Processing and EDI/HIPAA transactions. Without prior experience validating 837 and NCPDP files, you'll likely drown in the data complexity here.
Interview Expectations
Be ready for the interviewers to probe deep into your past automation architecture decisions—they'll want to know how you design test suites that can handle asynchronous EDI data feeds without breaking. Expect a grilling on how you handle tricky SQL queries for data reconciliation, and be prepared to explain a time you found a critical defect late in the deployment cycle. The hiring managers are secretly testing whether you can operate with zero hand-holding while keeping cross-functional stakeholders aligned.
Application Advice
To make your resume clear the automated ATS filters, ensure your document explicitly highlights keywords like HIPAA X12, EDI Transactions, 837I, 837P, NCPDP D.0, and Test Automation Leadership. Don't just list tools; describe the scale of the healthcare claims projects you've tested, the size of the automation suites you've built, and how your testing strategies directly reduced post-production bugs.
