Job Description & Details
If you are looking for a heavy-hitting, hands-on enterprise IT support role where you are directly keeping state-level DMV operations running, this is it. You will be sitting on-site at the NCDMV Headquarters in Rocky Mount, acting as the escalation point for complex hardware, software, and networking issues that the frontline service desk cannot crack. It is a high-volume environment, so you need to be comfortable moving fast and taking ownership of messy technical roadblocks.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will be a mix of high-level desktop troubleshooting, physical hardware deployments, and bridging the gap between end-users and backend infrastructure teams. You will be imaging and deploying new machines, handling user profile and data migrations, setting up network printers, and diving into Active Directory and Citrix account management. When complex bugs pop up with proprietary applications or network infrastructure, you are the one gathering the technical telemetry and working directly with the development and network teams to get it resolved. You will also lead minor projects and maintain rigorous standard operating procedures to keep the team aligned.
The Core Tech Stack
This role demands deep, battle-tested experience with enterprise hardware, PC imaging, and OS deployment. You need a rock-solid grasp of networking protocols, peripheral configurations, and Active Directory user management. Because you will be working closely with ticketing workflows, having a strong command of ServiceNow for incident tracking and prioritization is an absolute non-negotiable. They are also looking for someone who can effortlessly navigate profile migrations and document technical processes without hand-holding.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to throw a scenario at you about a VIP user whose machine is completely bricked right before a major deadline, while simultaneously dealing with a lingering network authentication failure via Active Directory or Citrix; they want to see how you triage chaos under pressure. They will also likely ask you to explain your exact methodology for troubleshooting a persistent driver or printer mapping issue across multiple subnets, looking closely at your systematic approach to isolating whether the problem lives in the image, the network, or the hardware itself.
Application Advice
To get past the automated screeners and land an interview, your resume needs to explicitly mirror the language used in the skill matrix. Do not just list that you do 'IT support'—spell out your exact years of experience with enterprise PC imaging, profile migrations, Active Directory, and ServiceNow ticketing. If you have led deployment projects or written technical documentation for previous teams, bring that front and center, as leadership wants someone who can not only fix a broken laptop but also improve the operational playbook.
