Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty embedded systems role based onsite in Bartlesville, OK, geared towards someone who has spent a decade or more building physical products from the ground up. You will act as the technical anchor for bringing new embedded software components to life, bridging the gap between raw hardware and scalable firmware. If you enjoy architecture-level decisions and taking a product from an initial concept all the way through to manufacturing, this project has your name on it.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will involve translating product requirements into concrete embedded software architectures, leading design reviews, and getting your hands dirty with actual integration. You'll spend a significant amount of time making sure new software components play nicely with legacy hardware and existing codebases. Expect to troubleshoot deep integration snags, optimize performance on resource-constrained devices, and mentor the team on solid object-oriented principles.
The Core Tech Stack
C++ is the absolute lifeblood of this role, so you need to be extremely comfortable writing clean, efficient, and robust code for embedded environments. Beyond C++, you'll rely heavily on a Linux OS environment, XML for configuration data, and SQL when dealing with local data persistence. Having a solid scripting language in your back pocket—like Python or Bash—is non-negotiable for automating builds, tests, and deployment pipelines.
Interview Expectations
When you sit down with the engineering leads, expect them to probe deeply into your architectural choices on past products, particularly how you handle memory management and race conditions in C++ on Linux. They'll likely ask you to walk through a scenario where a new software component broke an existing hardware integration and how you diagnosed it. They aren't just looking for syntax knowledge; they want to see your structured thought process when dealing with unpredictable hardware constraints.
Application Advice
To make your resume stick out to the hiring manager, put your C++, Linux OS, and end-to-end product delivery experience right at the very top. Make sure to explicitly mention XML, SQL, and Python or Bash scripting so you easily clear the ATS filters. Emphasize your architectural background and leadership experience over mere syntax familiarity, as they are looking for someone who can drive the design phase independently.
