Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on, remote integration gig focused heavily on bridging the gap between legacy systems and modern cloud architectures using the Boomi platform. If you enjoy untangling messy data flows and dealing with enterprise heavyweights like SAP, AS400, and Azure, this 4+ month contract will keep you genuinely busy.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around designing, building, and supporting integrations that connect on-premise apps with cloud ecosystems. You'll spend a lot of time writing and tweaking Boomi processes, maps, and profiles while configuring connectors for Azure Blob Storage, Service Bus, and ADLS. Expect to deal with real-world deployment headaches, managing Atoms, Molecules, and Atom Clouds across different environments while troubleshooting execution logs in Process Reporting when things inevitably break in production.
The Core Tech Stack
You need solid, battle-tested experience with the Boomi Enterprise Platform and an active Boomi Integration certification to even get past the gate. Beyond standard process building, the real meat of this role requires deep familiarity with Azure services like Service Bus topics and subscriptions, alongside legacy ERP systems like SAP and IBM i (AS400). Knowing your way around SQL, REST and SOAP web services, JSON, and flat files is a given, but if you also know how to drop custom Groovy or JavaScript into Data Process shapes, you'll easily stand out.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to test your practical knowledge of runtime management, specifically around how you handle environment extensions and deployment rollbacks across Atoms and Molecules. They will likely ask you how you troubleshoot a stuck process execution in Process Reporting that's timing out due to a massive payload from an AS400 or SAP extract. They aren't looking for textbook definitions here; they want to hear war stories about how you isolated the bottleneck, optimized the map shapes, and kept the business stakeholders happy.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams 'Boomi Certified' right at the top, and explicitly list your hands-on experience with Atoms, Molecules, and specific Azure connectors like ADLS and Service Bus. Don't just list the tools—highlight complex legacy integrations you've built, especially if you've connected platforms like SAP or IBM i to modern cloud endpoints. Weave in keywords like 'Process Reporting', 'Environment Extensions', and 'Groovy scripting' naturally into your project descriptions to clear the automated ATS filters effortlessly.
