Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on technical project management role driving complex omnichannel initiatives for a major multi-category retailer. If you enjoy wrangling massive distributed engineering efforts, coordinating cart and checkout flows, and surviving Q4 retail holiday freezes, this gig will keep you on your toes.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days acting as the ultimate bridge between Product, Engineering, Cloud Architecture, and third-party vendors. Your core mission is orchestrating software delivery across high-volume digital storefronts, payment gateways, and fulfillment integrations like BOPIS and curbside pickup. You will run Agile ceremonies, manage RAID logs, and enforce strict peak readiness operations, ensuring that performance and load tests pass before seasonal traffic spikes threaten to bring down the house.
The Core Tech Stack
You need a solid grounding in modern microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Familiarity with enterprise eCommerce engines—whether Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce, commercetools, or custom MACH stacks—is non-negotiable. Because you'll be talking architecture with engineers, you need to understand how OMS, POS, ERP, and payment tokenization systems talk to each other without needing someone to draw it on a whiteboard for you.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to ask you how you've handled a critical production blocker right in the middle of a Q4 holiday freeze, testing your ability to manage stress and trade-offs under pressure. They'll also likely dig into your experience with dual-track Agile delivery across distributed teams, looking for concrete examples of how you keep remote developers aligned when scope starts shifting rapidly.
Application Advice
To make it past the ATS, your resume needs to heavily feature hard retail metrics and specific eCommerce keywords like 'omnichannel fulfillment', 'cart and checkout flows', 'payment gateways', and 'peak readiness'. Don't just list Jira and Confluence; highlight your track record managing large budgets, cross-functional dependencies, and vendor delivery milestones in high-volume retail environments.
