Job Description & Details
This is a specialized contract-to-hire SAP Project Systems Analyst role based in Norfolk, requiring an active Secret clearance and a Sec+ certification alongside deep enterprise architecture chops. You'll be dropping into a defense-adjacent environment to manage complex project lifecycles, cross-module integrations, and potentially help drive an S/4HANA transformation.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around configuring and troubleshooting SAP PS structures while acting as the connective tissue between project accounting and core logistics. You'll spend a lot of time mapping out WBS elements, networks, milestones, and results analysis keys, ensuring that cost planning and availability controls don't choke execution. When issues pop up during integration points with FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, or PM, you'll be the one diagnosing the root cause, writing up the functional specs, and executing the test scripts to push fixes to production.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute mastery of SAP PS—specifically WBS elements, network activities, cost planning, and settlement rules—paired with solid integration experience across FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, and PM modules. Because this touches defense systems, having hands-on familiarity with SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA alongside an active Secret clearance and CompTIA Security+ is non-negotiable. They need someone who doesn't just know the configuration paths, but deeply understands how financial settlements tie back to physical material requirements and time sheets.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on complex cross-module integration failures, such as walking them through a scenario where a goods issue or time sheet posting fails to settle properly against a WBS element and how you trace that error. They'll also want to test your S/4HANA migration or optimization strategies, specifically looking for how you handle results analysis and availability control without disrupting ongoing project execution. They are secretly trying to figure out if you need hand-holding or if you can independently diagnose a broken settlement profile under a tight deadline.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume explicitly highlights your end-to-end implementations of SAP PS and your cross-functional touchpoints with FI/CO and MM, rather than just listing generic SAP support tasks. Seamlessly weave in exact keywords from the job description like 'WBS elements', 'results analysis', 'availability control', and 'cross-module integration' to ensure you clear the automated ATS filters. Don't forget to clearly display your active Secret clearance and Sec+ certification right at the top of your resume so the recruiter instantly knows you meet the baseline government requirements.
