Quality Engineer - Insurance (Policy & Annuities)

Burgeon IT Services LLC.

Job Description & Details

This is a specialized QA gig focused heavily on the insurance sector, specifically dealing with policy administration and annuities. If you've spent years untangling complex financial workflows and legacy insurance systems, this role lets you apply that exact domain knowledge without wasting time on generic web apps.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around validating end-to-end policy lifecycles and annuity business logic. You won't just be clicking buttons; you'll be digging into complex data flows, executing rigorous regression and integration suites, and ensuring that financial calculations and policy updates are spot on. Expect to spend a significant amount of time doing data reconciliation and writing meticulous test scenarios based on dense business requirements.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a rock-solid foundation in manual and automated testing methodologies paired with deep domain expertise in insurance. Proficiency in SQL is non-negotiable since you'll be validating database states directly. You should also be comfortable hitting endpoints with Postman or REST Assured for API validation, and tracking everything seamlessly through Jira or Azure DevOps.

Interview Expectations

Be ready for the interviewers to throw complex policy calculation scenarios your way to test your domain intuition. They'll likely ask you to explain how you would handle data reconciliation discrepancies between legacy systems and a new database migration. The hiring manager isn't just looking for technical correctness; they want to see that you understand the financial and regulatory implications of a missed defect in an annuity workflow.

Application Advice

Skip the generic QA buzzwords and heavily feature your specific experience with policy administration systems and annuity processes right at the top of your resume. Explicitly mention your proficiency with SQL queries, API testing tools like Postman, and experience with Agile methodologies. If your resume reads like a generalist software tester, the ATS will likely filter you out—make sure the insurance domain expertise shines through immediately.
