Systems Engineering Manager

Early Warning

Job Description & Details

If you've ever used Zelle, you've interacted with systems built and protected by Early Warning. This role puts you right in the middle of that infrastructure, managing a team of systems engineers who keep high-availability financial platforms running smoothly while balancing budgets, vendor relationships, and executive strategy. It's a heavy mix of people management and deep infrastructure oversight, requiring someone who can step away from a budget forecast to help untangle a nasty RHEL or data encryption problem.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your days will be split between steering the ship and diving into the weeds when things catch fire. You'll lead 1:1s, coach engineers, and align daily work against strict uptime and resiliency metrics, while also collaborating with security teams to ensure compliance and handle vulnerability management. When infrastructure upgrades or critical data migrations hit the pipeline, you'll act as the escalation point, clearing roadblocks and guiding your team through end-to-end deployments without breaking production.

The Core Tech Stack

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is the heartbeat here, so deep enterprise Linux administration is non-negotiable. You and your team will lean heavily on Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and Ansible Tower for governance and workflow automation, making automation strategy a critical daily focus. Add in Thales CipherTrust for data encryption at rest, robust disaster recovery methodologies, and core Windows and server administration, and you've got a stack that demands absolute technical fluency alongside your management chops.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring panel to test both your operational resilience and your technical depth. They will likely ask you to walk through a scenario where a critical production upgrade went sideways, and they'll want to hear how you balanced immediate incident triage with keeping executive stakeholders informed. They are secretly testing your grace under pressure and your ability to lead from the front without micromanaging. You'll also face technical deep-dives into RHEL architecture and Ansible playbook governance to prove you can actually audit and guide your engineers' technical decisions.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to immediately bridge the gap between people leadership and hardcore infrastructure chops. Don't just list how many engineers you've managed; highlight specific outcomes where you scaled infrastructure, drove automation initiatives with Ansible, or enforced enterprise security policies using encryption tools like Thales CipherTrust. Make sure keywords like Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ansible Automation Platform, disaster recovery, vulnerability management, and infrastructure lifecycle management are woven naturally into your experience bullets to effortlessly clear the ATS.
