This is a heavy-duty architecture role where you'll be calling the shots on complex SAP BTP integration strategies for a long-term enterprise project. If you're tired of just writing code and want to actually design the integration patterns that tie SAP and non-SAP landscapes together, this 12-month gig gives you the runway to do it.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll spend your days designing scalable integration solutions, mapping out data flows, and leading the technical execution across SAP and third-party systems. Expect to troubleshoot stubborn bottlenecks in the SAP Integration Suite, figure out the cleanest way to expose APIs, and bridge the gap between business requirements and the technical realities of cloud architecture. You will be the go-to technical authority, meaning you'll need to defend your design choices to both stakeholders and engineering teams.
The Core Tech Stack
You absolutely must live and breathe SAP BTP and Cloud Integration (CPI), alongside deep hands-on expertise with API Management. The team relies heavily on OData, REST, SOAP, and IDoc interfaces, so you need to know these protocols inside and out to handle legacy and modern systems alike. Experience connecting S/4HANA is non-negotiable here, as you'll be orchestrating data pipelines directly into the core ERP.
Interview Expectations
Be ready to walk through a time you had to design an asynchronous integration pattern handling high-volume traffic drops, and explain how you handled error logging and retry mechanisms without breaking data consistency. The hiring manager is testing your battle scars here—they want to know you won't panic when an API gateway throws a 502 error in production. You'll also likely get grilled on your exact strategy for migrating legacy PI/PO scenarios over to Cloud Integration.
