Corrosion & Integrity Engineer

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a 2-year contract gig for a Corrosion & Integrity Engineer based out of the Chatsworth or Pico Rivera offices on a hybrid schedule, requiring four days onsite and one day remote. There is no FTE conversion on the table, so treat this as a pure contract play where you drop in, own the asset integrity programs, and keep high-consequence infrastructure running safely. It requires a solid engineering foundation and hands-on familiarity with pipeline degradation mechanisms.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day revolves around keeping rust, structural fatigue, and pipeline failures at bay. You will oversee platform corrosion monitoring, run cathodic protection programs, and coordinate complex inspection cycles including pigging and in-line inspection operations. When anomalies pop up from ILI data, you are the one responsible for running Fitness-for-Service evaluations, determining the severity of dents, cracks, or wall loss, and deciding on the right repair strategy or material investigation.

The Core Tech Stack

You need deep, practical fluency in pipeline integrity and corrosion mitigation. The absolute non-negotiables here are your ability to execute Fitness-for-Service evaluations using industry standards like API-579, RSTRENG, CorLAS, and MAT-8. Beyond that, you must be comfortable interpreting In-Line Inspection data, understanding Direct Assessment methodologies, and coordinating Nondestructive Evaluation methods to make high-stakes engineering calls on pipeline safety.

Interview Expectations

You will face a multi-stage panel interview with the hiring manager and three supervisors who are going to test your technical mettle and practical field sense. Expect someone to hand you a hypothetical ILI data set showing a complex metal loss anomaly and ask you to walk them through your evaluation process using RSTRENG or API-579. They want to see how you balance conservative engineering standards with operational realities, so don't just quote formulas—explain your risk-management reasoning.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume clearly highlights your hands-on experience with Fitness-for-Service assessments and cathodic protection systems right at the top. Explicitly list out standards like API-579 and RSTRENG so the automated screening tools catch them immediately. If you have your NACE CP1 certification, put it front and center, as it's a major differentiator for this panel.
