Senior Scrum Master

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This hybrid Senior Scrum Master role in Columbus isn't about just tracking Jira tickets and shouting at people during stand-ups. It's about bridging the gap between rigid corporate IT structures and actual business velocity, shielding your team from external noise, and forcing stakeholders to have realistic conversations about delivery scopes.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days running ceremonies that actually matter—sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives—while aggressively clearing roadblocks that stall the team's momentum. A massive part of this job is acting as a diplomat between traditional business units and engineering teams, translating fuzzy business goals into predictable sprints without letting your developers drown in endless meetings and scope creep.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a deep, internalized grasp of the Agile Manifesto, Lean-Agile principles, and Systems Thinking, but theoretical knowledge won't cut it here. You also need a solid baseline understanding of modern engineering practices like DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing so you can speak the same language as the developers and spot bottlenecks in the delivery pipeline before they break the release.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to throw a messy scenario at you where a product owner is demanding an impossible feature drop right before a release deadline. They aren't looking for a yes-man; they want to see how you leverage data, protect your engineers from burnout, and negotiate a pragmatic compromise without alienating stakeholders. They'll also likely probe your technical literacy by asking how you handle metrics like velocity and burn-down charts when a team's output suddenly plummets.

Application Advice

Skip the generic project management buzzwords and heavily emphasize your hands-on experience driving continuous improvement and handling risk mitigation in hybrid enterprise environments. Make sure your resume explicitly calls out keywords like servant leadership, Jira transparency, DevOps awareness, and conflict resolution so you easily clear the ATS filters.
