Desktop Systems Specialist

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This is a solid, hands-on IT support role where you'll act as the face of technology for a corporate environment, dealing with everything from blown power supplies to messy Active Directory permission quirks. If you enjoy fixing real-world hardware and software problems while actually talking to humans rather than just staring at logs all day, this gig keeps you busy and valued. You'll be the backbone of keeping the internal team productive and sane.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect your day to be a mix of triage, ticket crushing in ServiceNow, and endpoint deployments. You'll image and configure Windows 10/11 machines, provision user accounts, handle Microsoft 365 migrations or troubleshooting, and occasionally fix conference room AV or network drops. It's a fast-paced environment, so you'll constantly juggle urgent requests—like a panicked executive whose Outlook keeps crashing right before a pitch—while keeping your inventory tracking precise.

The Core Tech Stack

You need to know your way around Windows 10/11 inside and out, alongside a strong grip on Microsoft 365 administration (Teams, OneDrive, Exchange/Outlook). Active Directory is non-negotiable since you'll be managing user accounts, groups, and permissions daily. Experience with ticketing platforms like ServiceNow is crucial, and having some exposure to endpoint management tools like SCCM, MECM, or Microsoft Intune will instantly move your resume to the top of the stack.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to ask you to walk them through a complex troubleshooting scenario where a user complains their laptop won't connect to the corporate network or VPN. They want to hear your systematic methodology—checking physical layers, IP configs, DNS, and local supplicants—rather than just guessing random fixes. They'll also gauge your customer service patience, often asking how you handle an extremely frustrated non-technical user demanding an immediate hardware replacement.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list technical tools, but highlights your actual impact on ticket resolution times and user satisfaction. Explicitly include keywords like ServiceNow, Active Directory, Windows 10/11, Endpoint Management, and Microsoft 365 administration so you breeze past the ATS filters. If you have any certifications like CompTIA A+ or Microsoft equivalents, put them front and center.
