Facilities Technician III

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on Facilities Technician III role based in North Reading, requiring you to physically maintain and repair critical building infrastructure, automated conveyors, and distribution center HVAC systems. You'll be dealing with everything from routine preventative maintenance to emergency fixes in a 24/7 operating environment, complete with a rotating on-call schedule.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your typical day involves a mix of scheduled maintenance and putting out unexpected fires—sometimes literally, given the fire protection systems. You will be knee-deep in automated conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and pneumatic networks. Expect to read electrical schematics to troubleshoot equipment failure, perform metal and wood fabrications including welding, and meticulously log your preventative maintenance routines while keeping spare parts inventory dialed in.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a strong foundation in electrical and electronic principles, coupled with the ability to read blueprints and complex electrical schematics with your eyes closed. Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems, automated conveyor controls, and material handling equipment is absolute non-negotiable. They also want someone comfortable with fabrication tools and welding, as you'll be modifying parts on the fly.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to hand you an electrical schematic and ask you to walk them through your troubleshooting methodology for a downed conveyor motor. They want to see if you can isolate a fault logically under pressure. They'll also likely ask about a time you handled a complex mechanical repair with minimal supervision, looking specifically for your adherence to safety protocols and how you prioritize multiple urgent facility requests.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream reliability and hands-on technical competence. Make sure to weave in keywords like preventative maintenance, electrical schematics, automated conveyors, and HVAC directly into your work history bullets. Don't just list what you fixed; highlight the scale of the material handling equipment you've maintained and any specific certifications or vocational training you have that proves you can work safely and autonomously.
