Job Description & Details
This is a specialized Senior QA role focused heavily on accessibility compliance and grant management systems for the Department of Education. You will be ensuring that complex government workflows, funding streams, and claim processes remain robust, accessible, and bug-free for public sector end-users.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will be split between hands-on manual testing, writing and executing test plans, and enforcing strict accessibility standards. You'll work closely with business analysts and developers to untangle complex grant monitoring workflows, write SQL queries to validate backend data integrity, and lead defect triage meetings when issues pop up in staging or production environments.
The Core Tech Stack
Accessibility is the absolute non-negotiable pillar here; you need a legitimate certification like CPACC or WAS and deep, practical knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA and Section 508 standards. Beyond accessibility, you must be comfortable writing complex SQL queries for database validation, performing API testing for web services, and leveraging automation tools where they actually add value to the SDLC.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to grill you on real-world edge cases regarding accessibility compliance, asking you to explain how you would audit a complex dynamic form for screen reader compatibility under WCAG 2.2 AA. They'll also likely test your SQL proficiency on the spot, wanting to know how you isolate data discrepancies during an API payload failure.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to make your accessibility credentials jump off the page immediately. Do not just list compliance as a keyword; explicitly state your certifications (CPACC, WAS) right at the top and give concrete examples of past government or enterprise projects where you successfully navigated Section 508 and WCAG standards.
