Security Automation Engineer

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This is a specialized infrastructure and security automation role focused heavily on eliminating manual toil within identity and access management systems. If you enjoy building robust CI/CD pipelines and converting legacy security procedures into code, this position lets you shape the backbone of enterprise authentication infrastructure.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your primary objective is to drag legacy IBM security architectures into the modern era of Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code. You will spend your days designing automated deployments, building robust CI/CD pipelines, and integrating identity services with ServiceNow for automated work intake and self-healing health checks. Instead of writing manual deployment runbooks, you'll be engineering idempotent scripts and automated rehydration processes to ensure environments can recover from critical incidents in minutes rather than days.

The Core Tech Stack

The absolute non-negotiable here is deep, hands-on experience with IBM Verify Identity Access (IVIA/ISAM). Beyond that, you need to be fluent in modern authentication protocols like OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML 2.0, alongside LDAP directories. From an automation standpoint, you'll rely heavily on Python, JavaScript, Ansible Tower, and Git for managing state and driving infrastructure changes across cloud and on-prem environments.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to hand you a scenario where an identity gateway goes down during a ransomware recovery event, asking you to walk through how your automated IaC pipelines and rehydration strategies would restore service without manual intervention. They want to see that you understand state management, idempotency, and how to structure secure CI/CD workflows for IAM components. You'll also likely be quizzed on advanced SAML/OIDC federation edge cases and how you troubleshoot token propagation issues across complex reverse proxy junctions.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list generic DevOps tools; explicitly highlight your experience with IBM Verify Identity Access or ISAM right at the top. Weave in concrete examples of how you've used Python, Ansible Tower, and Git to automate security infrastructure and eliminate manual deployment steps. Mirroring keywords like Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and federation protocols will ensure your profile clears the automated screening and lands directly on the engineering manager's desk.
