Juniper Network Engineer

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty enterprise networking role where you will be knee-deep in large-scale architectures, campus switching, and data center fabrics. If you enjoy wrangling complex BGP/OSPF routing tables and pushing large automation pipelines instead of just clicking around GUIs, this gig has your name on it. It sits at the intersection of traditional routing and modern AI-driven network assurance.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days designing, deploying, and troubleshooting sprawling network infrastructures utilizing Juniper QFX and EX platforms. Expect to spend significant time implementing EVPN/VXLAN overlays, configuring BGP and OSPF, and integrating Mist Wireless assurance. You will also be the person driving network automation via Python and Ansible, meaning manual CLI changes will be the exception rather than the rule. When things break during a maintenance window, you need to stay cool under pressure and communicate clearly with stakeholders ranging from fellow engineers up to the CISO.

The Core Tech Stack

Your absolute bread and butter here will be JUNOS CLI, Juniper QFX/EX hardware, and advanced data center networking protocols like EVPN/VXLAN, eBGP, iBGP, and OSPF. Beyond traditional routing and switching, you need solid production mileage with Mist Wireless assurance and Marvis AI. Because this shop values automation, you cannot fake your way through Python, Ansible, YAML, and PyEZ. Having active certs like JNCIS/JNCIP MistAI, CCNP, or CCIE will definitely get you past the initial resume screen faster.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to grill you on EVPN/VXLAN control and data plane mechanics, specifically how MAC-VRF and BGP EVPN routes function under the hood. They want to see if you truly understand failure domains and convergence times when an underlay link drops. You should also be ready for a deep dive into Python and Ansible, where they will likely present a real-world scenario of automating a multi-switch VLAN rollout and ask you to sketch out the playbook and error handling on the fly.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume doesn't just list networking buzzwords; you need to explicitly quantify your experience with large-scale deployments, mentioning specific node counts and routing protocol sizes. Highlight every instance where you used Python or Ansible to automate repetitive infrastructure tasks, as this is a massive differentiator for this particular team. Ensure your Juniper certifications (especially MistAI or JNCIP/JNCIE) are front and center at the top of your CV to hit all the right ATS signals.
