Senior VoIP / Contact Center Engineer (Avaya)

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

If you live and breathe Avaya voice infrastructure and want a 12-month enterprise contract where you'll actually own large-scale architectures, this is a solid gig. You'll be bridging the gap between deep L3/L4 engineering and high-level program delivery for a massive Real-Time Collaboration team.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your days will be split between hands-on engineering execution and driving alignment across globally distributed teams. You'll be configuring and implementing complex Avaya solutions, troubleshooting tricky SIP trunking or QoS bottlenecks, and jumping into cross-functional design sessions with network and application groups. At the same time, you'll need to translate heavy technical risks into clear, structured status updates for senior leadership without losing the engineering nuance.

The Core Tech Stack

You need absolute fluency across the entire Avaya Aura stack—Communication Manager, Session Manager, System Manager, AES, CMS, and media servers. On top of that, your VoIP and networking fundamentals must be rock-solid, specifically around SIP, RTP/RTCP, SBCs, and QoS configurations. They are looking for someone who doesn't just configure ACD/PBX routing and vectors, but truly understands how to troubleshoot deep TCP/IP and integrate third-party tools like NICE call recording or Venafi certificate management.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to throw a complex multi-site media server failover or QoS degradation scenario at you to test your real-time troubleshooting methodology. They aren't just looking for the CLI commands you'd run; they want to hear how you systematically isolate SIP signaling issues from RTP media path problems under pressure. You will also be grilled on your stakeholder management skills, so be ready to share a specific example of how you explained a critical voice infrastructure risk to non-technical executive leadership.

Application Advice

Don't let your resume read like a generic IT support log; tailor it to highlight large-scale Avaya enterprise deployments and cross-functional program delivery. Make sure your bullet points explicitly mention keywords like 'Session Manager', 'SIP trunking', 'ACD/PBX programming', and 'L3/L4 support' to easily clear the ATS filters. Emphasize your experience working with globally distributed teams and leading infrastructure documentation, as leadership communication is heavily weighted in this role.
