Platform Engineer

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on platform engineering gig where you will own the reliability, automation, and governance of a core multi-node data platform. It is a contract role starting at 3 months, built for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats between systems administration, deployment automation, and security oversight.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days wrangling multi-node environments, keeping platform upgrades from breaking production, and writing Python-based automation to push project bundles smoothly across environments. Expect to handle identity lifecycle management, set up governance-as-code controls, and tie together enterprise cloud data warehouses. It is less about writing greenfield code and more about building the rails that let other teams ship data products safely without blowing up the cluster.

The Core Tech Stack

You need to be fluent in Python, REST APIs/SDKs, and Linux system administration because you will constantly be scripting deployment pipelines and automating health checks. Experience with enterprise data warehouse connectivity and role-based access control is non-negotiable since security and permissions are massive components of this ecosystem. Terraform and CI/CD exposure will also make your life significantly easier here.

Interview Expectations

The hiring team is definitely going to ask you how you would handle a failed multi-node platform upgrade that brought down production, and they want to hear a methodical approach to log analysis and rollback strategies. They are secretly testing whether you panic under pressure or treat infrastructure issues with calm, structured observability. You will also likely get grilled on how you design secure, automated identity onboarding, where they are looking for your practical understanding of least-privilege access and API-driven provisioning.

Application Advice

To get past the automated screen, make sure your resume heavily features exact matches for Python, REST APIs, deployment automation, and Linux administration. Don't just list tools; write brief bullets about how you automated deployment bundles, managed multi-node environments, or implemented governance controls in past enterprise roles. Emphasize your background in production support and infrastructure reliability to prove you can hit the ground running.
