Senior Software Engineer

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on backend role where you will be writing core services and tooling to keep massive multiplayer games running smoothly on a global scale. If you enjoy solving distributed systems challenges and want your code to directly impact player experiences rather than just pushing enterprise SaaS features, this gig is worth a serious look.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days designing and building resilient microservices that handle high concurrency and low latency. You'll be dropping into multiple codebases, writing architectural docs, reviewing PRs from teammates, and occasionally jumping into rotational support when live services run into trouble. Collaboration is huge here, so you'll constantly be syncing with game product managers, infrastructure teams, and non-technical stakeholders to scope out new features and keep the platform stable.

The Core Tech Stack

You need deep, production-level fluency in at least one major backend language like Go, Java, Python, C++, or C#. Beyond the language syntax, the hiring team is heavily focused on your ability to operate fault-tolerant distributed systems from scratch. Experience with cloud providers like AWS or Azure, containerization via Docker and Kubernetes, and managing telemetry or data pipelines will make you stand out immediately since you'll be deploying and maintaining services at scale.

Interview Expectations

Be ready to walk through a time you debugged a catastrophic live service failure under pressure, as they want to see your actual incident-response methodology. You'll also likely get grilled on distributed systems fundamentals—expect a design question where you have to scale a service to handle millions of requests while ensuring zero data loss. The interviewer is secretly looking for trade-off analysis: they want to know when you choose eventual consistency over strong consistency and why.

Application Advice

Skip the generic corporate summary and tailor your resume to highlight hard numbers around uptime, latency reduction, and scale. Make sure the keywords "microservices," "fault-tolerant," "distributed systems," and your primary language of choice are front and center to easily clear their automated ATS filters. Emphasize any past ownership you've taken over CI/CD pipelines or architectural design docs, as they explicitly want engineers who can drive technical processes independently.
