Job Description & Details
This is a solid mid-level application engineering gig focused squarely on keeping enterprise supply chains moving without a hitch. If you enjoy diving deep into WMS platforms and troubleshooting messy production data bugs, you'll find plenty to sink your teeth into here.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will be split between writing application code, untangling production bugs, and fine-tuning database queries to keep the warehouse floor humming. You'll work closely with warehouse operations teams to understand bottlenecks in picking, packing, and shipping, then turn those insights into system enhancements and integrations with external ERP or automation platforms.
The Core Tech Stack
You'll need a rock-solid foundation in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL to survive here, as writing complex queries, stored procedures, and optimizing poorly performing database calls is a daily reality. Experience with Manhattan WMOS is the golden ticket, though coming in with strong chops in Blue Yonder, SAP EWM, or Oracle WMS will still get you through the door.
Interview Expectations
Expect the engineering manager to hand you a scenario where a high-priority warehouse integration is failing during a shift change, and they will want to hear your exact step-by-step methodology for checking logs, isolating the database bottleneck, and pushing a hotfix. They are testing your composure under pressure and whether you know your way around Unix log files and complex PL/SQL packages.
Application Advice
Skip the generic fluff on your resume and put your specific WMS platform experience front and center right at the top. Make sure to explicitly list out your Oracle SQL and PL/SQL achievements, highlighting metrics where you optimized sluggish queries or successfully integrated warehouse automation hardware.
