Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on, highly specialized contract role focused on modernizing mobile device management for a public sector agency in Mississippi. If you live and breathe Microsoft Intune, Entra ID, and automated device provisioning, this gig lets you own the infrastructure upgrade without getting bogged down in endless startup pivots.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days configuring device enrollment pipelines, setting up strict compliance policies, and mapping out conditional access rules across Windows, iOS, and Android ecosystems. You'll integrate Apple Business Manager and Android Enterprise into their existing tenant, troubleshoot stubborn synchronization errors, and migrate legacy setups to a modern cloud-first security baseline. Expect to work closely with internal IT staff, writing up comprehensive documentation and running knowledge-transfer sessions so they can maintain the systems after you hand them over.
The Core Tech Stack
Your bread and butter here is Microsoft Intune paired with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD). You cannot fake your way through this without deep, practical experience handling enterprise-grade Mobile Device Management (MDM). You also need hands-on familiarity with Apple DEP/ADE, Apple Business Manager, and Android Enterprise integrations. They rely heavily on security baselines and conditional access policies, so you should know how to lock down endpoints while keeping the end-user experience friction-free.
Interview Expectations
Be ready for the hiring manager to throw a scenario at you regarding a complex conditional access failure blocking a VIP's device enrollment, asking you to walk them through your exact troubleshooting steps from Intune logs to Entra ID sign-in reports. They want to see how methodically you isolate problems between the identity provider and the endpoint management plane. They will also likely drill you on how you handle Apple DEP token expirations and automated device assignment errors in a live production environment.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume doesn't just list Intune as a keyword, but explicitly highlights enterprise migrations, conditional access policies, and Apple Business Manager setups. Use exact terminology from the job description like 'device compliance policies', 'security baselines', and 'Android Enterprise integration' to clear the automated screening filters. Since this role requires strong written communication and knowledge transfer, emphasize any technical documentation or training materials you've authored in past contracts.
