Manufacturing Operations - Engineering Technician

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This is a hands-on Engineering Technician role embedded within the Electrical Integration team at Everforth Apex, where you will spend your days building test fixtures, soldering circuit boards, and wrestling with wiring harnesses. If you like getting your hands dirty in a mechatronics lab rather than just staring at CAD models all day, this setup actually gives you the physical proximity to hardware that hardware engineers dream about.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll be juggling lab maintenance, inventory tracking, and safety walks alongside heavy hardware fabrication. Your average week will involve spinning up test setups for powertrain, body, and chassis groups, manufacturing PCBAs, and troubleshooting dodgy electronic components using bench test gear like signal generators and power supplies. You will also partner with automation engineers to wire up data acquisition systems, meaning you need to be comfortable shifting gears between physical wrenching and digital logging.

The Core Tech Stack

You need solid foundational skills in electronic product rework and mechanical fabrication. Knowing how to cleanly solder thermocouples and tiny components onto PCBAs is non-negotiable. Beyond the iron, you'll need a working knowledge of Python scripting to help automate tests, alongside familiarity with bench tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and voltage supplies. If you've poked around CAN buses using Vector CANalyzer, you'll feel right at home here.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to hand you a scenario where a custom PCBA fails mid-test due to an intermittent short; they want to hear your methodical approach to probing rails and isolating the fault rather than just guessing and replacing parts. They'll also drill down into your Python experience, likely asking you to talk through how you've previously automated a manual test bench or parsed telemetry data from a data acquisition system to see if you can scale your lab work.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume leans hard into the physical lab work, wiring harness fabrication, and PCB debugging you have done in past roles. Don't hide your Python experience in a tiny footer; bring it to the top because even though this is a hardware-heavy job, they want someone who can script tests without waiting on software teams. Drop keywords like 'Vector CANalyzer', 'PCB assembly', 'wiring harness', and 'bench test equipment' right into your technical skills section so you clear the automated screening filters.
