Job Description & Details
This IAM Project Delivery Lead role puts you right in the middle of complex cybersecurity initiatives, bridging the gap between deep technical engineering and high-level stakeholder management. You'll be working through Apex Systems for a major client, orchestrating end-to-end identity and access management projects where things rarely go strictly according to plan. If you enjoy untangling messy cross-functional dependencies and pushing enterprise security upgrades across the finish line, this gig offers plenty of real-world impact.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will be a mix of tactical alignment and blocker-busting. You'll spend plenty of time translating lofty business security objectives into granular, actionable execution plans that engineers and architects can actually build. Expect to run cross-functional syncs, map out project dependencies across disparate teams, and rapidly pivot when technical roadblocks or vendor delays threaten your timeline. You won't be writing the IAM configurations yourself, but you will need enough technical depth to call out hand-waving from vendors and keep everyone honest.
The Core Tech Stack
While this is fundamentally a delivery and project leadership role, you need a firm grasp of Identity and Access Management (IAM) domains, modern enterprise security architectures, and technical cybersecurity frameworks. The team relies on your ability to quickly ingest complex technical concepts—whether that's SSO, MFA, RBAC, or directory services—and turn them into reliable project schedules. Knowing how IAM integrates with broader cloud and on-prem ecosystems is non-negotiable if you want to hold your own with the engineering leads.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring manager to press you on a time you had to rescue a failing technical project with hard deadlines and stubborn dependencies. They're secretly looking for your ability to ruthlessly prioritize and hold cross-functional teams accountable without burning bridges. You'll also likely get grilled on how you handle technical ambiguity—be ready to explain a specific instance where you had to ramp up quickly on a new IAM architecture to make a critical delivery decision.
Application Advice
Skip the generic project management buzzwords and heavily feature terms like IAM project delivery, risk mitigation, cross-functional dependencies, and technical roadmap execution on your resume. Make sure your application clearly highlights past security or identity management initiatives where you owned the delivery lifecycle from kickoff to deployment. If you hold a PMP or similar technical certification, put it right at the top so the ATS picks it up immediately.
