Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty full-stack role building operational tooling and financial index platforms for the FTSE Russell ecosystem. You'll be knee-deep in workflow-led, data-heavy interfaces where auditability, approvals, and strict regulatory compliance actually matter in day-to-day production.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days bridging the gap between complex backend data and clean, responsive user interfaces. Expect to build new financial index configuration tools using React while occasionally diving into legacy Angular modules that need maintenance or progressive modernization. On the backend, you'll wire up robust Java and Spring Boot services, ensuring APIs are secure, scalable, and traceably audit-logged for regulated financial operations. You'll also leverage AI-assisted coding tools to speed up prototyping and test generation, but you'll need the human discipline to rigorously validate every single line of generated code before it touches production.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in React for modern frontend builds and deep muscle memory in Angular to support legacy components. On the backend, heavy-hitting production experience with Java and Spring Boot is non-negotiable, along with designing clean REST or GraphQL APIs. Because this ecosystem deals with heavy financial workflows, you'll also be touching relational or NoSQL data stores, message queues like Kafka or SQS, and cloud-native AWS infrastructure. Plus, a genuine grasp of AI-first development tooling and agentic workflows is required to hit the ground running.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to ask you how you handle state management, performance optimization, and accessibility challenges across both React and Angular components within a single enterprise app. They'll also likely probe your backend architecture skills by asking you to design a distributed Spring Boot service that guarantees auditability and traceability under heavy transactional load, testing your knowledge of transaction boundaries, messaging, and failure recovery. They aren't looking for textbook definitions; they want to hear how you handle architectural trade-offs under real-world pressure.
Application Advice
When updating your resume, ditch the generic bullet points and directly mirror the terminology used in this posting, specifically highlighting terms like "audit-sensitive data," "workflow-led interfaces," and "AI-assisted engineering." Make sure your project history clearly demonstrates end-to-end ownership in regulated spaces—whether financial, healthcare, or enterprise SaaS—and explicitly call out instances where you migrated legacy UI frameworks or optimized complex microservices.
