Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty enterprise contract focused entirely on upgrading and stabilizing IBM Maximo environments. You will be knee-deep in MAS 9 and legacy 7.6.x systems, dealing with complex custom scripts and integrations rather than just maintaining routine tickets.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days architecting upgrades, building robust automation scripts, and untangling integrations between Maximo and other enterprise systems. Expect to write plenty of Java, JavaScript, and Python to extend functionality, alongside tuning Oracle 19c+ databases when performance dips. Since you are on-site in Dallas three days a week, a lot of your time will also be spent in direct alignment meetings with business stakeholders and technical leads to hash out requirements and unblock agile sprints.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS 9) and 7.6.x, paired with strong backend scripting in Java, JavaScript, and Python. Because this role touches deep data architecture, solid proficiency with Oracle 19c+ and REST API integrations using JSON are absolute non-negotiables. Familiarity with the usual deployment tooling like WebSphere Liberty, Eclipse, and PuTTY will keep you moving fast without getting bogged down in environment setup.
Interview Expectations
The technical panel will likely throw a real-world Maximo upgrade roadblock at you, asking: "How would you troubleshoot a failed MAS 9 upgrade caused by a custom automation script that relies on deprecated legacy APIs?" They want to see your methodical approach to refactoring code and handling database schema transitions. You might also get grilled on Oracle performance tuning, specifically how you would optimize a notoriously slow work order query joining massive asset tables.
Application Advice
Skip the generic system administrator fluff on your resume and highlight your specific Maximo upgrade resume line items, especially anything mentioning MAS 9 transitions. Make sure keywords like IBM Maximo Application Suite, BIRT, REST APIs, and Oracle 19c are explicitly stated since the ATS will screen heavily for exact version matches and integration capabilities.
