Guidewire Automation Tester

Not Disclosed

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty automation role focused squarely on Guidewire PolicyCenter, requiring someone who can hit the ground running with in-sprint test scripts and complex enterprise pipelines. You will be knee-deep in TypeScript and JavaScript frameworks, bridging the gap between acceptance criteria and robust regression suites without hand-holding.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will involve developing, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts for UI, API, and integration layers directly aligned with active user stories. You'll spend a good chunk of time logging actionable defects with clear reproduction steps, managing test data configurations, and driving defect triage sessions with developers and senior QA folks. When things break—and in Guidewire they will—you'll be expected to independently debug test code, maintain the RTM, and continuously optimize the regression asset suite.

The Core Tech Stack

To survive here, you need solid, battle-tested experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter paired with heavy programming-based test automation. Mastery of TypeScript-driven tools like Playwright or Taiko, or JS frameworks like Cypress and Selenium, is non-negotiable. You'll also need hands-on proficiency with Git for version control, JIRA or HP ALM for tracking, and API testing tools like Postman, Karate, or Rest Assured to validate integration points effectively.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to grill you on your approach to test maintenance in fast-moving agile sprints, specifically asking how you handle brittle UI selectors when Guidewire DOM elements shift. They want to see how you structure your automation framework from scratch, so be ready to whiteboard your design patterns and explain how you ensure high test coverage without bloating execution time.

Application Advice

Skip the generic QA buzzwords and make sure your resume immediately highlights your specific years of Guidewire PolicyCenter experience alongside concrete examples of TypeScript or JavaScript automation frameworks you've built. Emphasize your independent debugging capabilities, Git workflow proficiency, and experience with CI/CD integration so the ATS flags you as a true technical engineer rather than just a manual tester who runs scripts.
