Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty, 12-month contract for a senior .NET developer who knows their way around enterprise architecture and high-volume transaction systems. You will be knee-deep in modernizing legacy workflows while ensuring everything scales cleanly in a hybrid cloud environment. If you enjoy jumping between hands-on C# coding, database tuning, and occasionally wrangling business stakeholders into sane technical specs, this gig will keep you busy.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days building, testing, and shipping large-scale web applications using the Microsoft stack. Expect to write clean ASP.NET Core code, design RESTful APIs, and optimize SQL Server queries when things start slowing down under load. Beyond writing code, you will act as a bridge between QA, IT, and business stakeholders, translating vague business requirements into concrete architectural decisions.
The Core Tech Stack
You need absolute fluency in C#.NET, ASP.NET Core, MVC, and Web APIs, paired with front-end basics like jQuery and Bootstrap. On the data side, deep SQL Server expertise is non-negotiable; they need someone who can write high-performance queries without leaning entirely on the ORM. Add in hands-on familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub, and cloud platforms like Azure or AWS, and you've got the exact toolkit required to survive here.
Interview Expectations
Expect them to grill you on trade-offs between monolithic structures and modern cloud-native design patterns, likely asking something like, 'Walk me through how you would scale an ASP.NET Core API handling millions of daily transactions while minimizing latency.' The hiring manager wants to see if you can architect for failure and explain complex technical bottlenecks simply. You will also have to pass a hands-on coding test, so brush up on your core C# and SQL optimization skills.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams enterprise .NET experience by explicitly highlighting your work with ASP.NET Core, RESTful APIs, and SQL Server performance tuning. Since this role requires translating business requirements, emphasize any leadership or cross-functional liaison experience you have, and make sure your past project metrics reflect high-volume, scalable web applications to get past the automated screeners.
