Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-duty Health Exchange systems analyst gig where you will spend your days wrist-deep in EDI pipelines and healthcare data exchanges. If you know your way around enrollment transactions and aren't afraid of untangling messy data mappings, this is a solid, stable project to sink your teeth into for the next year.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will revolve around managing and troubleshooting Health Exchange marketplace EDI solutions, specifically focusing on generating and validating EDI X12 transaction sets. You'll spend a good chunk of time pouring over companion and implementation guides, cross-referencing specs with actual output files, and writing SQL queries to figure out why a particular data stream is throwing errors. You will also act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, turning vague requirements into concrete data solutions.

The Core Tech Stack

To survive here, you need deep, battle-tested experience with Healthcare EDI formats, specifically the 834 benefit enrollment and 999 functional acknowledgment files, along with TA1 interchanges. On top of that, you need to be comfortable writing SQL queries to pull and analyze data directly from the databases. The team relies on your ability to read complex implementation guides and immediately translate those rules into technical test cases without missing a beat.

Interview Expectations

Expect the interview panel to throw a realistic scenario your way, such as asking you to walk through how you would troubleshoot an 834 file rejection based on a cryptic 999 response. They are secretly testing whether you actually know the X12 standard inside and out or if you just rely on automated tools. You'll also likely get grilled on a SQL live-coding question to prove you can quickly extract enrollment discrepancies from a relational database under pressure.

Application Advice

Skip the generic project management fluff on your resume and lead with hard metrics showing your exact years of experience handling Health Exchange EDI solutions and X12 834 files. Make sure keywords like 'EDI X12', '834', '999', 'TA1', 'implementation guides', and 'SQL' are front and center so you easily clear their automated filters.
