Business Analyst - Healthcare

AaraTech Inc

Job Description & Details

This is a solid entry-to-mid level role for someone looking to cut their teeth in healthcare analytics and health plan operations. You won't be architecting enterprise systems from scratch, but you will be the crucial glue translating messy stakeholder requests into clean data definitions and actionable Tableau dashboards.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your day-to-day will be a mix of wrangling healthcare data and sitting down with cross-functional teams like Utilization Management and Behavioral Health to figure out what they actually need versus what they are asking for. You'll spend a good chunk of your time writing SQL queries to pull data from multiple sources, running quality checks, and building or updating dashboards. Expect to spend plenty of hours translating complex health plan metrics into plain English for non-technical stakeholders who just want to see the bottom line.

The Core Tech Stack

SQL and Oracle are your bread and butter here; you need to be comfortable querying relational databases and manipulating messy healthcare datasets without hand-holding. Paired with that is Tableau or a similar BI tool for visualization, plus advanced Excel skills for quick data cuts and ad-hoc analysis. Knowing your way around healthcare-specific metrics and data validation workflows will separate you from applicants who only know generic business analysis.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring team to test your SQL chops with a live or take-home querying problem involving joins and aggregations on a health plan dataset, likely focusing on claims or utilization data. They'll also want to see how you handle ambiguous requirements, so be ready to walk through a past project where you had to extract clear reporting specs from a vague stakeholder request without getting overwhelmed.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream data accuracy and domain knowledge. Make sure you explicitly highlight your hands-on experience with SQL, Tableau, and Excel pivot tables, and don't just list tools—mention the actual healthcare workflows or metrics you supported, like UM or contact center KPIs. Weave in terms like data validation, requirements gathering, and cross-functional collaboration to easily sail past the initial ATS filters.
