Job Description & Details
This is a solid 6-month contract for a Business Analyst who actually knows their way around clinical diagnostics and the US healthcare ecosystem. You'll be bridging the gap between messy lab workflows and tech teams, helping to streamline operations where every data point actually matters. If you enjoy untangling complex regulatory and operational constraints without getting bogged down in corporate red tape, this gig is worth a serious look.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in requirements gathering, translating clinical needs into functional specs, and figuring out why lab workflows are bottlenecking. You'll be talking to everyone from bench clinicians and lab operations teams to IT and compliance folks, making sure that order entry, sample processing, and result reporting actually talk to each other cleanly. You'll also be owning UAT cycles, running gap analyses, and coordinating with product operations and sales teams to ensure new system rollouts don't break existing operational flows.
The Core Tech Stack
You don't need to write code, but you do need deep fluency in healthcare data standards like HL7, LIS (Laboratory Information Systems), and EHR/EMR integrations. The absolute make-or-break here is your practical understanding of clinical diagnostics and lab operations within the US healthcare market. If terms like sample processing and result reporting aren't second nature to you, you're going to struggle to translate business needs into technical user stories that engineers and QA teams can actually execute.
Interview Expectations
When you talk to the hiring manager, expect them to test your domain expertise with a scenario-based question about handling conflicting requirements between compliance and rapid lab turnaround times. They want to see how you balance strict US healthcare regulations with agile product delivery. You'll also likely get grilled on a past project where an integration broke due to mismatched HL7 data standards, and they'll be listening closely to see if you can methodically trace the root cause and guide stakeholders to a consensus.
Application Advice
Don't send in a generic IT business analyst resume that only highlights Agile methodologies and Jira boards. You need to explicitly feature your domain keywords like Clinical Diagnostics, LIS, HL7, EHR/EMR, and lab workflows right near the top to clear their automated screening. Make sure your experience section highlights specific instances where you successfully managed UAT and bridged clinical operations with technical product teams in the US healthcare space.
