Guidewire Automation Lead

New York Technology Partners

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting automation lead role focused squarely on Guidewire PolicyCenter implementations. You won't just be maintaining legacy scripts; you'll be actively shaping test design, building out in-sprint automation, and acting as the technical bridge between manual validation and pure code-driven testing. If you like owning the QA lifecycle from test planning down to debugging repository issues, this project gives you the autonomy to do just that.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days building and maintaining in-sprint automated test scripts covering UI, APIs, and complex integrations against acceptance criteria. Expect to spend a lot of time debugging flaky tests, troubleshooting TypeScript or JavaScript automation code, and keeping regression suites clean. You'll also work directly with developers and QA engineers during defect triage, keeping an eye on metrics like test coverage and defect escape rates while occasionally diving into manual testing and RTM tracking when project crunches hit.

The Core Tech Stack

You need deep, battle-tested experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter paired with modern JavaScript or TypeScript automation frameworks. The team relies heavily on tools like Playwright, Taiko, Cypress, or Selenium alongside Git for version control. You must also be comfortable validating APIs using Postman, Karate, or Rest Assured, and have a solid grasp of CI/CD pipelines and JIRA-driven defect lifecycles.

Interview Expectations

Expect the hiring manager to press you on how you handle test design from scratch for a complex PolicyCenter upgrade or integration. They will likely ask you to walk through a scenario where an in-sprint automation script fails intermittently in a CI/CD pipeline and how you isolate whether it's a code, environment, or timing issue. They aren't looking for textbook definitions; they want to see your practical debugging methodology and how you prevent technical debt in your test assets.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS and grab the recruiter's attention, make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on coding experience with TypeScript or JavaScript automation tools, not just high-level management duties. Explicitly list your years of Guidewire PolicyCenter exposure, detail your experience building automation frameworks from scratch, and showcase instances where you successfully integrated your test suites into CI/CD workflows.
