Job Description & Details
This role puts you at the helm of building the initial phases of the PSE SLDS Portal, meaning you get to shape the technical architecture rather than just maintaining legacy code. You will be bridging the gap between front-end UI compliance and robust back-end data structures while collaborating closely with state agency IT staff.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend your days translating conceptual ideas into concrete deliverables, starting with wireframes and UI mockups that strictly adhere to the Keystone Design System (KDS). On the flip side, you'll dive deep into back-end architecture, drafting data dictionaries, Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), and technical specifications. As the lead programmer, you will write the core web application code while also owning the QA process—writing and executing test cases, tracking down elusive bugs, and pushing out fast remediation to keep the project roadmap on track without slipping.
The Core Tech Stack
While the exact modern web stack details are to be finalized, you must bring deep expertise in full-stack web application development, UI/UX design documentation, and relational database architecture. The team relies on your ability to produce pristine data dictionaries and ERDs alongside pixel-perfect front-end layouts. Knowing how to integrate tightly with established state design standards like KDS and coordinating network and database requirements with infrastructure teams will make or break your success here.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring managers to probe deeply into how you handle end-to-end architecture design; they will likely ask you to walk through a time you built an ERD and data dictionary from scratch for a complex multi-layered web portal. They want to see how you balance rapid prototyping with scalable back-end modeling. You should also be prepared for a scenario-based question about your QA methodology, specifically how you triage critical bugs under a tight deployment deadline while coordinating remediation with cross-functional project managers.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS and land an interview, ensure your resume heavily emphasizes your hands-on experience with full-stack web development, explicit mentions of creating ERDs and data dictionaries, and your familiarity with design systems like KDS. Highlight your background in leading development cycles and owning QA processes from testing through bug remediation, as proving you can manage both code delivery and quality assurance independently is the ultimate key to standing out for this role.
