QE Lead

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting QE Lead role centered heavily around Guidewire PolicyCenter automation in an enterprise environment. If you don't have deep insurance domain knowledge paired with solid modern Javascript/TypeScript testing chops, you'll find yourself underwater pretty quickly. It's a hands-on leadership gig where you'll be writing code, mentoring, and managing the QA lifecycle end-to-end.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll be embedded right in the sprint cycles, translating acceptance criteria into automated UI, API, and integration test scripts using frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium. Your day-to-day will involve wrangling test data, configuring environments, running regressions, and triaging defects with developers. You're also expected to keep the RTM updated, track metrics like test coverage and defect rates, and occasionally roll up your sleeves for manual testing when deadlines loom.

The Core Tech Stack

TypeScript and JavaScript are your bread and butter here, specifically paired with modern automation runners like Playwright, Taiko, or Cypress. You need robust hands-on experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter—no hand-waving allowed—alongside Git for version control, Postman or Karate for API testing, and JIRA for tracking. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and the ability to independently debug and resolve test code issues is an absolute must.

Interview Expectations

Expect the interview panel to press you on how you architect test automation frameworks from scratch, particularly for complex enterprise apps like Guidewire. They'll likely ask you to explain a scenario where you had to debug an intermittent flaky test in a CI/CD pipeline and how you solved it. The hiring manager isn't just looking for syntax knowledge; they want to see that you can troubleshoot independently, design for reusability, and talk shop intelligently with developers during defect triage.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume screams Guidewire PolicyCenter and modern JS/TS automation right at the top. Don't just list tools; highlight instances where you designed test suites, managed Git repos, and tracked QA metrics like defect density or test coverage. Keywords like 'Playwright', 'Guidewire PolicyCenter', 'TypeScript', 'API Testing', and 'RTM' need to be woven naturally into your experience bullets to ensure you clear the automated ATS filters and grab the recruiter's attention.
