QE Lead

Job Description & Details

This QE Lead role drops you straight into enterprise insurance tech, demanding heavy ownership over Guidewire automation pipelines. You aren't just writing scripts; you are steering the entire quality narrative for PolicyCenter implementations while keeping up with fast-paced sprint cycles.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Your days will be a mix of hands-on TypeScript or JavaScript automation development and cross-functional triage. You will translate acceptance criteria into robust in-sprint UI and API tests using tools like Playwright or Cypress, manage test environments, and ruthlessly track metrics like defect escape rates and test coverage. Expect to spend a solid chunk of time debugging flaky automation assets, handling Git merges, and collaborating closely with developers to unblock releases before they hit UAT.

The Core Tech Stack

You need a battle-tested background in Guidewire PolicyCenter projects backed by serious programming chops in TypeScript or JavaScript automation frameworks like Playwright, Taiko, or Cypress. Fluency with Git is mandatory for managing your test code base, alongside API validation using Postman or RestAssured. Add in a firm grasp of CI/CD pipelines and JIRA-driven QA lifecycles, and you have the exact toolkit required to survive and scale this suite.

Interview Expectations

The hiring manager is going to test your architectural thinking and your debugging resilience. You will likely be asked how you handle asynchronous waits and flaky UI selectors in a framework like Playwright, so make sure you can explain your retry strategies and custom locator patterns clearly. They also want to see how you lead test design from scratch, so expect situational questions on how you estimate test effort for a complex Guidewire integration and how you handle pushback during defect triage.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream Guidewire PolicyCenter and modern JS/TS automation. Do not just list tools; explicitly highlight how many years you spent designing automation frameworks from the ground up, managing Git workflows, and tracking QA metrics like RTM alignment and test coverage. Weave keywords like Playwright, PolicyCenter, API integration testing, and CI/CD directly into your experience bullets to clear the ATS and catch the engineering manager's eye.
