Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-hitting Principal role focused on driving Generative AI adoption and engineering excellence across distributed cloud platforms. You won't just be writing code; you will be the definitive technical authority guiding multiple scrum teams on how to actually leverage AI tools like GitHub Copilot and Amazon Q to ship better software faster.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Expect to spend your days knee-deep in architectural designs, mentoring senior engineers, and building MVPs that prove out GenAI use cases for massive financial compliance systems. You will bridge the gap between high-level business goals and ground-level execution, working across international business units to unblock teams, run workshops, and influence the company-wide technology roadmap. One minute you're reviewing a complex distributed microservices architecture, and the next you're advising senior leadership on the risk and reward of emerging AI tooling.
The Core Tech Stack
They need someone with serious battle scars in AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Glue) and a deep fluency in Java and Python. Because you're dealing with high-volume, time-sensitive compliance and financial data, your backend architecture chops need to be rock solid—including experience with PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, and MongoDB. On top of that, you need a pragmatic, hands-on understanding of prompt engineering and modern GenAI development assistants. It's not enough to just know what these tools are; you need to know how to embed them securely and effectively into a real enterprise CI/CD pipeline.
Interview Expectations
When you sit down with the engineering leads, be prepared for a deep dive into distributed systems design where you'll have to whiteboard a highly scalable, fault-tolerant cloud architecture under strict compliance constraints. They'll also probe your leadership style by asking about a time you had to pivot a stubborn engineering team toward a new paradigm or technology, so have a real-world story ready that highlights your ability to evangelize technical change without stepping on toes. They are secretly looking for someone who balances visionary technical ambition with practical, delivery-focused realism.
Application Advice
Your resume needs to scream enterprise-scale impact, not just task completion. Make sure you prominently feature keywords like "Generative AI," "Microservices," "AWS," and specific tooling like "GitHub Copilot" or "Amazon Q" right at the top in your summary. Don't just list Java and Python; highlight instances where you architected high-volume cloud platforms or led technology transformation initiatives that measurably improved developer productivity or system reliability. Quantify your leadership scope—mention the size of the teams you've mentored and the scale of the compliance systems you've delivered.
