Workday Platform Developer (HR & Finance Technology)

Job Description & Details

This is a solid, hands-on enterprise integration role where you will essentially own the pipes connecting Workday to the rest of the tech stack. If you enjoy untangling messy data flows between payroll, HCM, and external banking systems without getting bogged down in endless meetings, this gig is worth a serious look.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will spend your days building, debugging, and scaling integrations between Workday and a mix of internal Java/.NET apps, data lakes, and third-party vendors. Expect to troubleshoot failing Workday Studio integrations, optimize complex XSLT transformations, and figure out why a global payroll feed dropped a decimal point. You will collaborate closely with functional analysts and offshore teams, meaning you need to write clean, maintainable integration code that the next engineer won't curse you for.

The Core Tech Stack

You need absolute mastery over Workday Studio, Core Connectors, and EIBs, because building standard integrations won't cut it here. Deep XSLT, XML, and XPath skills are non-negotiable for manipulating payloads, while your background in Java or Python will be leaned on heavily for custom logic routines. On top of that, you'll need a firm grasp of Workday Web Services (WWS), REST/SOAP endpoints, and OAuth authentication to keep data pipelines secure.

Interview Expectations

The hiring managers are going to probe deeply into your Workday Studio error-handling strategies, likely asking you to walk through how you debug a massive integration that silently failed halfway through a batch process. They want to see that you can troubleshoot under pressure without breaking production. You will also probably get grilled on advanced calculated fields and RaaS optimization techniques to prove you know how to build reports that don't timeout the tenant.

Application Advice

Skip the generic tech buzzwords and make sure your resume explicitly highlights your hands-on Workday Studio and XSLT experience right at the top. The ATS is definitely scanning for specific keywords like PECI, Cloud Connect, and Workday Web Services, so weave those natively into your project descriptions rather than hiding them in a skills matrix. Emphasize any experience you have working with global, distributed engineering teams across different time zones.
