Job Description & Details
This is a solid enterprise support role focusing heavily on Manufacturing Execution Systems where you act as the primary technical safety net for critical factory floor software. You won't be building greenfield apps here; instead, you will be deeply embedded in keeping mission-critical manufacturing workflows running smoothly while dealing with ITAR compliance constraints.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your day-to-day will revolve around monitoring system operations, investigating performance bottlenecks, and rapidly troubleshooting issues before they impact factory output. You will work directly with production teams to untangle process issues, handle end-user support tickets, debug unexpected software behavior, and ensure your systems strictly adhere to operational SLAs. When problems get too gnarly, you'll manage the escalation path while keeping stakeholders informed.
The Core Tech Stack
You absolutely must bring deep expertise in Manufacturing Execution System software, specifically with Aprios, though heavy experience with Rockwell, Siemens Opcenter, or Proficy Smart Factory will also cut it. Because this role touches defense-related manufacturing, prior ITAR compliance experience is a hard requirement. You will also need a solid foundation in software troubleshooting, basic debugging, and working within established SLA frameworks to keep industrial operations online.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to test your crisis management skills by asking about a time you had to troubleshoot a live production-halting bug under intense pressure while maintaining your composure. They are secretly testing whether you panic and start blindly changing configurations or if you systematically isolate variables, check logs, and communicate clearly. You will likely also be quizzed on how you handle stubborn end-users and prioritize competing support tickets without dropping compliance standards.
Application Advice
Skip the generic fluff and put your MES toolset right at the top of your resume, explicitly calling out Aprios, Rockwell, Siemens, or Proficy depending on what you've used. Make sure the phrase 'ITAR compliance' appears naturally in your summary or work history, as the ATS will immediately filter for it. Highlight your direct customer support and troubleshooting metrics to prove you can handle the operational weight of this position.
