Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on, hardware-adjacent QA role where you will be testing the embedded software driving Coca-Cola's next-generation Freestyle beverage dispensers. If you enjoy bridging the gap between cloud services, IoT tech, and physical machinery like pumps and compressors, this gig offers a refreshingly unique environment away from standard web apps.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll be reporting to the Northyards office 5 days a week, working right alongside the core dispenser development team and product owners. Your day-to-day will involve defining test coverage, writing and executing test plans, and manually or automatically testing physical hardware features. You will spend a good chunk of your time digging through complex system and application logs to triage issues, help developers debug hardware-software handshakes, and ensure the reliability of connected fleet equipment.
The Core Tech Stack
You need a solid foundation in testing embedded systems or IoT devices, which means being completely comfortable navigating Linux via shell scripting and unix command line tools. Because these dispensers talk to the cloud, a strong grasp of backend protocols, APIs, and web services is mandatory. Experience with Java and test automation tools like Selenium, JUnit, or Groovy will make you immediately effective, along with basic Git workflows for version control.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to test your deep troubleshooting mindset by asking how you would approach debugging an intermittent failure where a physical component like a pump or compressor fails to respond to a cloud API call. They want to see how you systematically parse raw system logs and isolate whether the fault lies in the network, the backend service, or the embedded OS. They'll also likely probe your experience in designing comprehensive test plans from scratch when clear requirements are scarce.
Application Advice
To get past the ATS, make sure your resume explicitly mirrors the hard requirements mentioned in the posting, especially terms like embedded systems testing, shell scripting, unix command line tools, and IoT device testing. Don't just list software testing achievements; highlight any experience you have working directly with physical hardware, analyzing event logs, or collaborating tightly with development teams to triage complex bugs.
