Network Engineer

Job Description & Details

This is a heavy-hitting network infrastructure contract focused heavily on modern Arista deployments and large-scale data center transformations. If you live and breathe EVPN-VXLAN, spine-leaf architectures, and network automation, this 6 to 12-month gig lets you run point on high-visibility enterprise architecture work across hybrid locations.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You will be leading Arista OEM engineering activities, architecting campus and data center networks, and executing massive hardware refreshes and migrations. Expect to spend your days designing EVPN-VXLAN fabrics, optimizing BGP routing policies, configuring CloudVision Portal (CVP), and writing automation scripts in Python and Ansible to cut down manual provisioning. You won't just be pushing configs; you'll be driving HLD/LLD reviews, running technical workshops, and acting as the SME when complex multi-vendor routing or security issues crop up.

The Core Tech Stack

Arista EOS and CloudVision Portal (CVP) are non-negotiable here. You need deep, production-level fluency in spine-leaf designs, EVPN-VXLAN overlays, MLAG, and BGP/OSPF routing in enterprise environments. Because this is a diverse enterprise stack, you'll also lean heavily on your multi-vendor background involving Palo Alto or Fortinet firewalls, F5 load balancers, and some hybrid cloud connectivity like AWS Direct Connect or Azure ExpressRoute. Automation is baked into the DNA of this role, so solid Python, Ansible, and Git skills are required to pass muster.

Interview Expectations

Expect the interview panel to drill down into your practical troubleshooting experience with EVPN-VXLAN control planes and underlay/overlay route convergence. They will likely ask you to whiteboard how you would isolate and troubleshoot a silent packet drop or a BGP route leak across a multi-site data center interconnect. The hiring managers aren't looking for textbook definitions; they want to hear war stories that prove you can troubleshoot calmly under pressure during a critical production outage.

Application Advice

Make sure your resume screams Arista and automation right at the top, rather than burying your skills under generic Cisco bullet points. Explicitly list out your experience with CloudVision Portal, ZTP, EVPN-VXLAN fabric implementations, and specific automation toolchains like Python and Ansible. If you hold an Arista ACE-L3, ACE Expert, or CCIE, put those front and center because they are the exact ATS keywords that will pull your profile out of the queue.
