Project Manager - Wireless or 5G

Systems Engineering Services

Job Description & Details

This is a specialized project management role keeping a complex 5G and wireless deployment on track for the Department of Defense. You won't be writing code or configuring radios, but you need enough technical fluency to call out engineering bottlenecks and manage stakeholder expectations at Fort Bragg.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll spend your days acting as the glue between hardcore 5G engineers, cybersecurity teams, and DoD stakeholders. Expect to build and maintain integrated project schedules, run status meetings that actually produce actionable outcomes, and track down dependencies across multiple workstreams. When a roadblock hits—like an RMF compliance delay or a hardware integration issue—you'll be the one driving it to a resolution without needing your hand held.

The Core Tech Stack

While you aren't configuring the network, you must understand the ecosystem: 5G Standalone, private LTE, RAN architecture (RU/DU/CU), and edge computing. You'll also need deep familiarity with federal environments, specifically interfacing with RMF and Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes. If terms like 'interoperability testing' and 'tactical-edge deployments' give you pause, this isn't the gig for you.

Interview Expectations

The hiring manager is going to test how you handle technical ambiguity and uncooperative timelines. Expect to be asked how you manage a critical path when a core engineering team misses a deliverable due to cybersecurity delays. They want to see that you can translate deep engineering jargon into a risk matrix that a government customer can understand, without losing the technical context in translation.

Application Advice

Your resume needs to scream 'federal technical PM' rather than generic Agile scrum master. Make sure keywords like '5G implementation', 'RMF', 'ATO', 'risk management', and 'DoD infrastructure' are front and center. Explicitly highlight your experience working with active U.S. Government clearances and managing multidisciplinary technical teams so the ATS flags you immediately.
