Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty modernization gig where you will be unravelling an entrenched Oracle ADF legacy monolith and rebuilding it cleanly into a modern Angular and Spring Boot stack. You are essentially coming in to bring architectural sanity to a platform that is transitioning back to in-house ownership, with a strong lean toward using AI tooling to keep velocity high.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will involve digging through old business logic and brittle Oracle schemas, reverse-engineering how the ADF UI works, and translating that into slick Angular components and rock-solid Spring Boot microservices. You will not be siloed; you'll be writing full-stack code, designing REST APIs around strict OpenAPI contracts, and leaning heavily on GitHub Copilot to generate boilerplate, refactor old patterns, and speed up migration. Expect to spend a lot of time ensuring your code is heavily tested with Jest, Playwright, and robust backend testing suites while navigating Azure environments.
The Core Tech Stack
To survive this project, you need serious, production-level fluency in modern Angular and Java Spring Boot, combined with deep, unshakeable hands-on Oracle SQL expertise because the legacy data models aren't going to refactor themselves. You will also need native comfort working within Azure and utilizing GitHub Copilot daily. Experience with eventing layers like Kafka or Azure Event Hub, along with a baseline understanding of micro frontends and AI concepts like RAG or vector databases, will make you an immediate standout.
Interview Expectations
You are likely to get grilled on how you decouple complex legacy database logic from monolithic UIs without breaking downstream clients, so be ready to talk through your migration strategies and how you handle data integrity during big refactors. They will also want to hear specific examples of how you design REST APIs defensively when dealing with messy legacy schemas underneath, and how you leverage AI code assistants practically without introducing technical debt.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume screams modern Angular and Spring Boot, but do not bury your Oracle database and legacy migration experience at the bottom because that is the literal linchpin of this role. Explicitly call out any projects where you moved a system off an older architecture to the cloud, specifically mentioning Azure and any automated testing frameworks like Jest or Playwright to clear the ATS instantly.
