Job Description & Details
This is a hands-on compensation role where you will live in the data, crunching numbers from market surveys and internal datasets to keep competitive salary structures intact. If you like building models, handling complex market analyses, and partnering with HR to design smart pay practices, this gig gives you plenty of ownership.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You will spend a good chunk of your time benchmarking jobs against market data, reviewing requests for new job codes, and helping structure competitive pay and bonus plans. Day-to-day work involves running analytics, forecasting compensation outcomes for the annual cycle, and modeling out stock programs or incentive payouts. You will also field internal employee inquiries and support Compensation Business Partners with ad-hoc reporting.
The Core Tech Stack
You are going to need advanced spreadsheet skills and experience chewing through large, messy datasets. Because this role sits at the intersection of HR and heavy quantitative analysis, a degree in Math, Finance, or a related field is a massive plus. You must be comfortable with data-driven decision making and keeping highly sensitive compensation numbers strictly confidential.
Interview Expectations
Expect the hiring team to test your deep understanding of market pricing methodologies and how you handle complex data models under tight deadlines. They will likely ask you how you would build a salary range for a brand-new role using fragmented survey data, looking to see if you can balance internal equity with market competitiveness while explaining your math clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Application Advice
Make sure your resume doesn't just list HR tasks; highlight your heavy data analysis experience, modeling skills, and work with large datasets. Drop keywords like 'market pricing', 'compensation surveys', 'quantitative analysis', and 'salary structure development' right into your experience section so you easily clear the ATS filters.
