Job Description & Details
This is a heavy-duty production support and development role focused heavily on Product Lifecycle Management systems, specifically Centric PLM. You'll be bridging the gap between keeping the lights on during critical PST hours and pushing out minor enhancements, meaning you need to be comfortable context-switching between firefighting and writing clean backend code. If you enjoy solving tricky system bugs and managing enterprise retail or manufacturing tech stacks, this contract will keep you on your toes.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your days will be split between triaging urgent production incidents, running root-cause analysis, and shipping out smaller feature stories. A major part of the mandate is building out a Known Error Database to document recurring issues and mentoring the offshore team so they can level up their incident management game. You will also be deep in PLM configurations, writing microservices, and handling backend database queries while collaborating closely with Agile sprint teams.
The Core Tech Stack
You need solid hands-on experience with Java 11, 17, or 21, coupled with Spring Boot and microservices architecture to build out backend services. Centric PLM or a comparable product lifecycle management system is non-negotiable here, alongside relational and NoSQL databases like Azure SQL and MongoDB for data persistence. Hibernate and RESTful APIs round out the everyday toolkit you'll need to keep these enterprise workflows humming.
Interview Expectations
Expect the interview panel to throw a complex production debugging scenario your way, asking you to walk through your exact step-by-step methodology for isolating a memory leak or a thread deadlock in a distributed Java microservice. They are secretly testing whether you stay calm under pressure and how systematically you trace logs rather than just guessing at fixes. You'll also likely be quizzed on how you handle PLM data modeling and configuration changes without breaking existing downstream integrations.
Application Advice
When updating your resume, make sure your experience with Centric PLM or similar enterprise systems is front and center alongside your modern Java stack details. Explicitly highlight your production support, incident resolution, and root cause analysis metrics rather than just listing features you built. Weaving in keywords like Azure SQL, Spring Boot, microservices, and KEDB will ensure you clear the automated ATS filters and grab the hiring manager's attention.
