Solutions Design Engineer

Everforth Apex

Job Description & Details

This role bridges the gap between mechanical design and software automation, tasking you with building tools to scale material handling layouts across massive global supply chains. If you enjoy writing scripts that eliminate tedious manual CAD drafting and standardize warehouse layouts, this gig offers a great mix of software and logistics engineering. You won't just be drawing blueprints; you'll be writing the logic that generates them.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

Expect to spend your days translating manual, repetitive CAD workflows into clean, maintainable Python scripts. You will partner directly with fulfillment engineers to figure out where the bottlenecks are in their workspace designs, then build automation tools to solve them. You'll work heavily on creating drawing sets for material handling equipment, ensuring that whether a fulfillment center is opening in Massachusetts or anywhere else, the layout follows a standardized template.

The Core Tech Stack

Your bread and butter here will be a combination of expert-level CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks) paired with robust Python scripting. They aren't looking for someone who just knows how to click around in CAD; you need to know how to write scripts that can parse CSV, JSON, and XML files, manipulate data structures like dictionaries and sets, and handle rule-driven automation. Experience with conveyor design and layout principles is also a massive plus since you'll be dealing with industrial material handling systems daily.

Interview Expectations

When you hop on the technical call, be prepared to walk through how you would write a script to automate a repetitive data-ingestion task in CAD, specifically how you handle exceptions and validation checks like regex. The interviewer is secretly looking for your approach to maintainability—they want to know that your code won't break the second another engineer tries to run it. They'll also likely grill you on your experience with layer management and geometric rules in warehouse environments, so be ready to talk shop about industrial logistics.

Application Advice

To get past the ATS, make sure your resume explicitly highlights where you combined programming with mechanical design. Don't just list "Python" and "AutoCAD" as isolated skills; write bullet points that demonstrate how you used Python scripts to read files, transform data, and drive CAD outputs. Mention any specific experience you have with conveyor systems, layout standardization, or warehouse logistics to immediately catch the hiring manager's eye.
