Job Description & Details
This Mountain View contract role is a solid mid-to-senior full-stack gig focused on modernizing legacy systems using a Java and React stack. You will be building resilient microservices on AWS while keeping the frontend responsive and clean, meaning you need to be equally comfortable writing complex backend logic and debugging UI state.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Your typical week will involve designing and implementing scalable REST APIs, optimizing database queries in Oracle or PostgreSQL, and ensuring your code adheres to strict security and performance standards. You will collaborate directly with product teams to translate business requirements into technical architectures, frequently dealing with design patterns and service-oriented architectures to keep everything loosely coupled.
The Core Tech Stack
Core Java, J2EE, and the Spring ecosystem (especially Spring Boot and Hibernate) are non-negotiable here, as you'll be building enterprise-grade backend services. On the frontend, you need a strong command of React.js and vanilla JavaScript. Cloud competency with AWS is heavily leaned on for deployments, and relational database expertise is mandatory to make sure your data layer doesn't bottleneck the application.
Interview Expectations
Expect the engineering team to grill you on how you handle database transaction management and connection pooling in a high-concurrency Spring application, so be ready to explain your Hibernate tuning strategies. They will also likely test your React rendering optimization techniques and state management choices, looking to see if you understand the underlying JavaScript object model rather than just knowing surface-level component syntax.
Application Advice
When updating your resume for this role, make sure to heavily feature your hands-on experience with Spring Boot, AWS deployments, and React.js right at the top. Don't just list technologies; include specific metrics where you built REST APIs or optimized relational database queries, as the ATS and the hiring manager will be scanning for concrete proof of enterprise software delivery.
